The period on the Jewish calendar between Passover and Shavuot is called The Omer. During the Omer Jews recall the dangerous, uncertain time between leaving Egypt and Revelation at Sinai. The culminating moment of Revelation is both wonderous and terrifying, followed by more uncertainty and 40 years in the desert.
A year ago, the COVID pandemic was just beginning. It was frightening and for many felt overwhelming. There is hope on the horizon, and yet this new period brings its own fears. How long will we live in this “desert” of uncertainty? Join JFS Jewish educator, Beth Huppin, in an exploration of Jewish texts intended to examine what we might learn from the wisdom of our ancestors about navigating times of both uncertainty and hope.
Each class stands on its own. Come to as many as you are able. Everyone is welcome. No previous knowledge required. No charge.
