Chief Executive Officer

Will is responsible for the vision and strategic direction of Jewish Family Service. His responsibilities include program oversight and mobilization of philanthropic, volunteer and advocacy support to meet the needs of vulnerable individuals and families in the Puget Sound region.

Before coming to JFS, Will was Senior Vice President and Rabbi in Residence at Repair the World. He developed partnership initiatives with organizations across the United States. Prior to Repair the World, Will served as Rabbi and Executive Director of Hillel at the University of Washington and Jconnect Seattle. In those capacities, he was instrumental in making innovative, post-college programming and Jewish service-learning pillars of the organization.

Will is a graduate of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. He is a contributor to The Washington Post, the HuffPost and The Seattle Times. He also serves as a Leap of Reason Ambassador. Will has lived in Israel, England and several cities around the United States. He has led immersive service experiences around the world.

Kristin Winkel

Chief Operating Officer

Kristin is responsible for the successful management of the day-to-day operations of the agency, including client services and programs, IT and facilities and budgetary accountability. She acts in the CEO’s capacity in his absence. She provides daily oversight of agency activities and leadership in crafting a vision for the future direction of the agency’s programs and administrative services. Kristin provides leadership in the agency’s strategic planning process and transformation to an outcomes-driven model of service.

Before coming to JFS, Kristin spent nine years at King County Housing Authority, where she led the Section 8 voucher program and Homeless Initiatives. Previously, she worked at Abt Associates in Cambridge, Massachusetts, providing technical assistance and analysis to government agencies.

Kristin has a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Chief Development Officer

Lisa is responsible for the fundraising and marketing functions of JFS. She leads a team that engages the Board of Directors and a generous philanthropic community in a partnership to serve vulnerable individuals and families in the Puget Sound region.

Lisa has over twenty years’ experience in development, volunteer engagement and management in the nonprofit sector and has been in her current role twelve of those years. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College and a Master of Public Administration from Seattle University. She enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.

Senior Director of Administration & Outreach

Galit is responsible for developing a strategic vision for JFS education, volunteering and outreach and manages the Human Resources functions of the agency.

Before joining the JFS team, Galit was Director of Development and Operations at Hillel at the University of Washington. She spent the past 16 years in nonprofit fundraising and various management capacities. Previously, she worked in recruiting and business development in the corporate sector.

Galit holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with minors in Marketing and Human Resources and a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the University of Washington and is a SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources). She is a recipient of the Pamela Waechter Jewish Communal Professional Award from the Jewish Federation. Galit enjoys traveling, volunteering and spending time with her family and friends.

Michelle Matheson

Director of Finance

Michelle oversees all financial operations for JFS, including accounting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. Michelle’s experience prior to joining JFS includes over six years of public accounting and six years working as an accountant for private and nonprofit organizations

Michelle is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where she received her Bachelor of Science in Communications Studies and a Certificate in Accounting. She has been a Certified Public Accountant since 2004 and is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Michelle was born in Washington state and enjoys spending non-working hours volunteering for several local nonprofits as a board member and as a hands-on-volunteer.

Director of Care Solutions by JFS

Don has overall responsibility for managing the agency’s in-home care services, which include licensed home care and home health care.

Don came to JFS in November 1998, after twelve years as Executive Director of the Alpha Home, a residential program in Seattle for persons with intellectual disabilities. During his tenure there he served as President of the Developmental Disabilities Residential Services Association. His initial position with JFS was Director of Disability Services. Subsequently, he served as Director of Aging and Disability Services, then as Director of Professional Services and still later as the Director of Aging in Place.

Don received his Masters of Public Administration from City University and has undergraduate degrees in political science and religious studies, as well as a fifth year certificate in education. He served for many years on the Board of the African American-Jewish Coalition for Justice and enjoys the art of bonsai as a hobby. He has a son two grandchildren.

Director of Strategy, Data & Performance

Griff is responsible for ensuring that JFS uses effective measurement, monitoring, and learning to support meaningful and sustained change in the lives of clients. In addition, he provides leadership and support to the Board and staff in all aspects of strategic planning and is the strategic advisor to the Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to his current role, Griff spent six years working in the JFS Refugee & Immigrant Service Centers. He started as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, coordinating volunteers and furniture donations and then became a Resettlement Case Manager. Most recently, Griff served as Resettlement Coordinator.

Griff received his Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Whitman College and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington.
