Older Adult Services

  • OAS Administrative Assistant

    We are currently seeking an OAS Administrative Assistant to join our Older Adult Services team. This part-time (18.75 hours/week) provides administrative support to the Older Adult Services Department. Their work will focus on bill processing and grant compliance activities, particularly for grants from the Claims Conference. This person will also oversee the distribution and analysis of annual client satisfaction surveys and provide support with other mailings and tasks as needed

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Process all Claims Conference bills, including preparing check requests and documenting services in the Claims Conference spending spreadsheets.
    • Track spending projections and assist the Co-Director of Older Adult Services, Holocaust Survivor Services, with Claims Conference budgeting.
    • Assist with compiling data needed for grant applications and reports.
    • Review Claims Conference paperwork to ensure it complies with Claims Conference rules, including an annual audit of all Claims Conference files.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors providing home care services to OAS clients.
    • Use Diamond, Salesforce and other databases as needed to track client financial assistance.
    • Oversee annual client satisfaction surveys, including mailing and compiling results
    • Produce client mailings as requested, including but not limited to annual client satisfaction surveys.
    • Assist with Russian Language Socialization program data tracking.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A bachelor’s degree or similar experience
    • One year of experience in administrative tasks
    • Excellent written and verbal skills. Russian language skills are preferred but not required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills are required
    • Detailed oriented
    • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required
    • Ability to learn to use an electronic database is also required

     
    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    • The pay for this position is $24.53-$30.00 per hour.

Refugee and Immigrant Services

  • Resettlement Case Manager

    Jewish Family Service is currently seeking a Resettlement Case Manager to join our Refugee and Immigrant Services team. This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position provides resettlement services to refugees who are new to the US. The position is based in the Kent JFS office, but work is primarily carried out in locations throughout the Puget Sound, such as other JFS sites, clients’ homes and other locations in the community.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the U.S. Resettlement Program
    • Work with assigned clients to create and implement a strengths-based individualized self-sufficiency plan to expedite stability and integration.
    • Provide comprehensive case management to include advocating for and coordinating access to refugee benefits, medical care, school and ESL enrollment, conducting home visits.
    • Coordinate and conduct furniture move-ins, ensuring that all new arrivals have appropriate furnishings and household goods.
    • Facilitate client cultural orientation to the US, community navigation, and understanding of available resources and support systems.
    • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation for each case.
    • Referral services as needed.
    • Provide safe transport for clients, including children, from the airport and to appointments as needed. Teach clients how to utilize public transportation. 

     
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within field.
    • Experience working with other cultures and ability to effectively communicate with people who speak
      English as a second language.
    • Repetitive heavy lifting is required. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items, including furniture, weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Valid Washington State driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable access to personal vehicle as well as ability to drive agency vehicles required.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet client needs. Some evening and weekend work required. Overtime maybe required during high-arrival periods.

     
    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    • The pay range for this position is $28.66 – $35.03 an hour.
    • $2,000 signing bonus.

  • Employment Case Manager

    Jewish Family Service is seeking an Employment Case Manager in the Refugee & Immigrant Services program. This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position provides case management services critical to refugee and immigrant clients’ economic stability. The position will work one-on-one with clients to identify and overcome barriers to employment and financial asset building, focusing on long term career planning and advancement. The position is based at the JFS’ Kent office, but will have responsibilities throughout Puget Sound. Travel will be required to meetings in the community, medical and social service facilities, and employment appointments. Regular and punctual attendance with occasional overtime is required, as well as some evenings and weekends.
     
    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create a strengths-based individualized career plan with clients, identifying and managing towards short and long term goals.
    • Provide case management that supports stable employment including obtaining/maintaining refugee benefits, addressing routine medical needs, ESL enrollment, transportation support, and assistance with childcare enrollment.
    • Teach job readiness classes to prepare clients for the workforce, providing instructions on topics such as interview skills, workplace culture, as well as industry-specific skills.
    • Identify asset building goals with clients. Develop realistic plans based on goals. Connect clients to financial institutions and asset building agencies as appropriate.
    • Assist clients in accessing suitable trainings, work experience opportunities, and educational institutions to create entry points into appropriate career pathways. Assess and record client progress towards goals of career plan.
    • Maintain information on community resources and develop relationships with other providers and professionals, as needed.
    • Conduct professional communication and professional networking skills workshops at local partner agencies, community-based organizations and in the Kent office.
    • Support clients through professional mentorship opportunities ensuring ongoing professional support from volunteer mentor.
    • Provide ongoing household budgeting support and teach clients skills needed to build a realistic budget and plan for household self-sufficiency.

     
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within field.
    • Experience working with other cultures and ability to effectively communicate with people who speak English as a second language.
    • Additional linguistic skills strongly preferred, with a priority for Spanish, Swahili, French or Lingala.
    • Case management/employment placement experience preferred.
    • Valid Washington State driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable access to personal vehicle as well as ability to drive agency vehicles required.
    • Familiarity with local community resources and systems in social service support programs.
    • Demonstrated ability to self-manage competing priorities, pay attention to detail, and clearly and concisely communicate and collaborate with others.
    • Fully vaccinated individuals required due to client facing nature of the work; accommodations provided if possible.
    • Experience working with women, children, and families from a refugee or immigrant background is a plus.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet client needs. Overtime maybe required during busy periods.

     
    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    • The starting pay for this position is $28.66 – $35.03 an hour
