Home > Volunteer Services

Back in 1892, volunteers were the backbone of Jewish Family Service. The same is true today. Over the years, our community has donated well over 2.1 million hours to assist those with needs here at home.
JFS Volunteer Services coordinates numerous rewarding and meaningful activities for people of all ages throughout the year. Here’s how you can help:
- Big Pals / Little Pals
Designed for children from families seeking an additional adult role model, the Big Pal / Little Pal Program matches children with fun and responsible Jewish adults.
- ESL Tutoring
Assist in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, or provide individual English tutoring in the home.
- Food Bank Program
There's direct satisfaction in feeding hungry people. Volunteers play an essential role in food distribution, collection, shelving, bagging and delivery year-round.
- Friendly Visitors
Discover the satisfaction that comes from making an important difference in the life of a lonely older adult, a refugee family or a person with a disability.
- Holiday Baskets
Individuals and groups collect food and small gifts, fill baskets and/or deliver the baskets to seniors and people with disabilities each year at Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, Purim and Passover.
- Office / Reception Help
We always need extra help with mailings, filing, answering phones and other tasks that keep us running smoothly.
