JFS Strategic Plan: Implementation

2008 HIGHLIGHTS

► AGING & ADULT PROGRAMS:

~ With support from the International Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, Inc., provided care management and other services to 54 Holocaust survivors
~ Hosted over 35 different community-wide Endless Opportunities events for healthy older adults, including nine designed specifically to meet the needs of the local Russian-speaking population (in partnership with Temple De Hirsch Sinai & Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation)
~ 100% of staff is certified or licensed in areas of specialization

► ALTERNATIVES TO ADDICTION:

~ With funding from The Kenneth and Marleen Alhadeff Charitable Foundation, the Special Initiatives Fund of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound, launched this on-going culturally sensitive response to the disease addiction in the Jewish community
~ Weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are now held every Tuesday evening at JFS

► COUNSELING SERVICES:

~ Intake “experience” is greatly enhanced by Assessment Specialist who has also reduced response time to new callers
~ More than doubled service hours to Eastside clients

► EMERGENCY SERVICES / FOOD BANK:

~ With economic storm clouds overhead, the number of households served in the JFS Food Bank jumped 8%
~ Acclaimed Food Bank Home Delivery Program grew by 21%, reaching hundreds of isolated or homebound Jewish clients and frail elderly each month who have nowhere else to turn
~ 93% of Food Bank clients rated their service by staff at the highest level of satisfaction

► FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION:

~ Conducted 17 events with programming for the LGBTQ community, for those challenged by disabilities, for those and caring for our aging family members and on issues of growing older
~ With expanded programming, 25% participants attended two or more classes/workshops
~ 91% of FLE participants rated their experience as good or better

► PROJECT DVORA:

~ 100% of clients reported a decreased "sense of isolation" as a result of services provided
~ Eliminated "log jammed" waiting list, all clients seen within a week
~ Served 17% more clients than in 2007

► REFUGEE & IMMIGRANT SERVICE CENTERS:

~ Expanded services to the growing South King County population
~ Resettled 130 refugees, a 21% increase from 2007
~ 95% of clients had successful job placements / 90% improved by one or more levels in ESL

► SEATTLE ASSOICATION FOR JEWS WITH DISABILITIES:

~ Outstanding results on Quality of Life surveys -- 64 of 70 points for Shalom House, 63.2 of 70 points for Supported Living Program
~ Excellent scores on Quality of Services surveys – 27.7 out of 30 for Shalom House, 25.7 out of 30 for Supported Living Program.

► VOLUNTEER SERVICES:

~ Reduced time required to place new volunteers
~ 1,066 volunteers provided 15,375 service hours
~ 96% rated their level of satisfaction at 4 or higher on a 5 point scale
~ 96% said they would volunteer again
