People With Disabilities
The mission of SAJD Supported Living Program is to bring hope and a higher quality of life to people with cognitive disabilities.
Those who receive our services are treated with dignity and respect at all times, and we will identify and build upon the unique strengths of each individual. All of our services are informed and guided by values of mishpachah (the importance of the family unit) and ahavas Yisrael (which means, in this instance, the full acceptance and inclusion of people with disabilities in the larger community).
This mission is accomplished by offering the following array of habilitation services:
1. Case management: professional case managers work to ensure a person with disabilities has all of the resources which he or she needs to live in the community. Enhanced case management is characterized by very low staff-client ratios and frequent contact between the case manager and the client.
2. Pre-vocational services: through our contract with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation of DSHS, SAJD Supported Living Program staff members provide comprehensive evaluations, assistance with work-related systems access and independent living skills training to DVR customers.
3. Practical life skills training: under the supervision of the case managers, instruction and support specialists provide coaching and assistance to those who need help maintaining their homes. The focus is on teaching individuals the specific skills that they need to remain as independent as possible in their own homes.
4. Non-medical home care (offered after December 1, 2010): the SAJD Supported Living Program operates as a branch office of HomeCare Associates, the licensed, in-home care division of Jewish Family Service. Under this license, we provide personal care, homemaker/chore services and leisure support to those who need support and assistance to complete these tasks themselves.
Shaarei Tikvah: Celebrations for All are inclusive and accessible, community-wide and suitable for all ages. They grew out of a need for services and celebrations which were meaningful for individuals with cognitive disabilities, as well as their families and friends. Today Shaarei Tikvah has developed into an integrated, welcoming community praying and celebrating together.
The SAJD Supported Living Program provides skilled, compassionate, supported living services for people with developmental disabilities, persistent mental illness and brain injuries. Services are available at an affordable hourly rate.
