About JFS

Jewish Family Service is a 121-year-old non-profit organization providing professional social services of the highest caliber for those with needs throughout our local community. We graciously accept and embrace the concept of helping others help themselves…as has been the role of Jewish Family Service here at home for generations. This work is made possible by an incredibly supportive and generous lay community of donors and volunteers alike.

There’s much more to JFS than meets the eye:

  • nearly 13,500 clients served last year
  • 10 different program departments
  • more than 1,900 volunteers gave over 19,000 hours of time last year
  • over 200 staff
  • Three offices in the Puget Sound area
  • broad-based community support and involvement
  • the list goes on and on.

JFS collaborates extensively with other social service organizations in both the Jewish and the secular communities to ensure that the needs of our community are met in the most efficient and effective manner possible. It’s been that way since 1892, and we don’t plan on changing now.

JFS joins over 140 other agencies throughout North America as members of the Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Services (AJFCA). The goal of AJFCA collectively, and each member agency individually, is to leave the world better than we found it…providing services that not only meet the evolving needs of local Jewish families and individuals, but strengthen connections to the Jewish and general communities as well.

Jewish Family Service is a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and United Way of King County.
