Clinical Approach
Based on more than 25 years of work as a clinical counselor and social worker in a variety of medical and mental health settings, I help people with concerns and fears caused by age, disability, and dependency. Figuring out what to do - what options are available and affordable - may feel complicated and sometimes contentious. It is easier with professional guidance.
When one family member is dependent on another, it may be difficult to respect everyone's needs and choices. Balancing the desires for safety on one hand and independence on the other sometimes puts family members at odds. We work together to find a middle ground.
Whether working with children worried about an aging parent or an older person giving up a home of many years, I help with both emotional support and tangible suggestions. I employ my knowledge of local services and facilities. I also use my years of experience in addressing depression and anxiety, loss and end of life issues. Sometimes, I just share the pain of unsolvable problems.
